Our History

When Roberts Electric Co. opened for business in 1895 as Roberts Manufacturing, the company specialized in crafting the prevalent lighting of the times, custom gas light fixtures. Soon after the turn of the century, when communities slowly began to modernize from gas lighting to electrification, the company embraced the future, repositioned themselves as electrical contractors, and became Roberts Electric Co.

RECO is proud of its strong roots in the East Bay community. The company has been continuously family-owned for over 75 years, helping to brighten the lives of several generations of customers. As Roberts Electric Co. has thrived and grown, the company has retained deep ties to its original home base.

One of our prized keepsakes is a RECO electrical permit from 1919 that we found while upgrading a local residence. We proudly display the permit as a reminder to ourselves, and a promise to our customers, that our work spans generations.
